Life in the Slow Lane

....I said I wouldn't be blogging anymore....and I'm not really....this is a BLOGHOP post, following on from my recent weekend spent with a bunch of like-minded people at the RAU in Cirencester.

you may recognise some faces here

As always, it was lovely to meet up with old friends and to meet new ones!

As has become the norm, the lovely JULIE organised  PASS THE PAGE (the scrapbooking equivalent of Chinese Whispers) prior to the event and we all duly turned up with our's always amazing to see how the page differs by the end, but also to see what elements stayed the same all the way through.

To see the starting point go to the first page on the list (Julie's) and then go on to visit everyone else's blogs.

This is the page I made after receiving JACKY'S:

To find out what happened next, go to JEMMA'S blog...the full list of participants is below

THE TIME HAS COME...... face up to reality.

You may have noticed that I have been MIA for the last few months...the reasons are varied and I have been putting off the inevitable.

I have just read with great sadness but total understanding, my friend DEB TURTLE'S post explaining that she is bringing her blog (as it is now) to an end.

On reading Deb's final post, I realised that it was time for me to to be upfront and honest too.

My life is no longer lived in the slow lane, and in no way am I complaining about that; my involvement with the local charity has increased greatly over the last year and my commitments mean that my time is more limited and the time I DO have I want not be worrying about not writing a blogpost.

I have loved my blog...most especially for the friendships I have forged and for which I will be forever grateful....I will continue to look out for you all on FB and INSTAGRAM (and may even leave the odd comment on your Blog).

An appropriate picture to end with.....we were singing 'Start Spreading the News.....'

As always

Hello my friends!......the calendar tells me it's the first Monday in May but my brain finds it difficult to believe!

Being Monday, it's time to consider what 'firsts' might have occurred in the last few days and to try to remember if I learned anything new...all at the behest of the lovely SIAN.

No first time doing anything for me this weekend......BUT the first cherries are beginning to ripen on my net-covered tree

I also said farewell to my first houseguest of the season....I've had a lovely week with my friend Lyn; it does however mean that I MAY have over-indulged on the eating and drinking front:

just ONE of our outings!

I suppose I could say that I've learned (though actually it's  RE-LEARNED) that after a week over overindulging, the body most definitely needs a bit of a detox! it's been lots of fresh fruit and water today sensible head is most definitely attached!

Wishing you all a good week....

It's time to check in with SIAN and her merry band of 'Monday-ers' before yet another Monday has passed me by.

No 'firsts' this weekend.....all 'repeats': a hospital visit to check on some friends, another trip to a Garden Centre to buy this little lot:

.....then of course I spent some time planting them!

Sunday saw me a Street Market in a neighbouring village, helping run a Book Stall for JVH (the Charity with which I'm involved):

....followed by a rather nice dinner with friends!

What did I learn?......that sometimes it's worth paying someone with the right tools to do a job!...I have been snipping away at a Honeysuckle which was well past it's 'sell by' date with my secateurs for about a month, and was getting of the local lads got rid of the thing in less than an hour with some sort of electrical implement!!

Enjoy your week my friends!

Can you believe it's the first Monday in April? I remember my gran saying (often) that time flies the older you get; in my youth I naively thought she was 'haverin' ( a good Scottish word meaning 'talking nonsense') I know differently!

Being Monday, it's time to check in with SIAN and the 'usual suspects' to share something new we might have learned or something we might have done for the first time during the course of the weekend.

The weekend itself saw me getting the house back to 'normal' after having my Craig and Kirsty and HER Craig here for a week....I also got to spend time doing some planting in my garden and for the FIRST time we now have some garden furniture under our pergola:

I also decided that this year, for the FIRST time, I am getting serious with the birds eating the cherries off our, I haven't gone out and bought an airgun or anything drastic.....I have draped a net over said tree:

.....and am hoping it does the trick.

I have resorted to looking up a website of trivia to be able to report something new I have learned....and I actually DID learn something that pertains to ME....did YOU  know that the word 'LETHOLOGICA' describes the state of not being able to remember the word you want? You wouldn't believe how many times that happens to me...please tell me I'm not alone!!

Have a good week my friends...hope it's not too LETHOLOGICAL for you (or me for that matter!)

Happy Easter my friends.....hope you've had a relaxing and fairly peaceful weekend.

Here?...there have been a few 'firsts'- not first time EVERS but certainly first time this year!

Take Friday for was warm enough at 9 o'clock in the morning to sit outside (in short sleeves) and enjoy my coffee!

Later that day another first......the sound of laughter and of a recorder being played from one of the houses behind me!  The people who own it live in Valencia and use it as a holiday/weekend home and don't start using it until Easter weekend....I am glad to say that say that the recorder player has improved over the years!

My first houseguests have also arrived....Kirsty and her Craig arrived last night: I haven't seen her since the beginning of February so it's lovey to have her here for a few days.

...and finally, the parasol on the terrace had it's first opening today:

Waving at SIAN and the Monday Memorandumers...and anyone else who has popped by!

....with some scrapping this weekend!

You may remember that at the beginning of last year I committed to joining JO in her  FIVE FAVOURITES  project....and that thus far I have gotten as far as MAY!

As it turns out, on going through my photographs from 2016 I have realised that I didn't take as many pictures as I might normally do in the second half of the there will be no five layouts per month for the rest of the year, but I AM determined to finish recording 2016!

With that in mind, and some spare time this weekend here's what I've managed to produce:

This is a scraplift from JO herself...this is her original:

These were 'stolen' from Kirsty's FB page...the photo-bomber is her friend Imane!

I hardly even took any photos when 'the girls' were here...this is us having a last drink whilst they waited for the bus to take them to the airport.

Although I haven't kept to my original committment, I am indebted to JO for giving me a focus for my scrapbooking ...something I had lost for a while.

Hope you are all having a good, but not TOO chocolate-filled weekend!
